Recently (and previously) you have asked me not to speak poorly of my fellow shelter directors. They are doing a difficult job, fighting an impossible battle against companion animal killing that is a community problem and its not their fault.
Thank you for your advice.
I have a problem with it though.
What about the shelter director we offered to help who never returned our calls? What about the shelter director who killed newborn domestic rabbits despite the fact we said we would take them and find them homes? What about the shelter director who prohibited staff from calling rescues or other shelters for any animal? What about the shelter director who killed every cat in the building - twice? What about the shelter director who told me “it’s not worth it” to bottlefeed kittens or find foster homes.
Am I allowed to believe they are doing a bad job? At what point are we allowed to criticize them for their decisions and policies?
I’m not claiming to be perfect over here and I have met some wonderful shelter directors in my day … but … I am just asking … I need some guidance because animals are dying today that we - members of the community - could have saved but were denied the opportunity.
If you could please let me know what to do in the meantime, it would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely (and a little frustrated today),
Sue
PS - Please hurry with your response!
