The No Kill Nation is a community of people with different backgrounds and perspectives but with one thing in common - a desire to end killing for senseless reasons in our country’s shelters.  We want and need to hear from YOU, the people in our vast community.  If you would like to contribute to The No Kill Nation, send your submissions, links or story ideas to info@thenokillnation.com.  For even more info read the FAQ for contributors here.

Michel Meunier: A longtime rights activist for humans and animals alike, I became passionate about No Kill after reading “Redemption” and anything on the Internet I could get my hands on concerning animal sheltering.  I care about all animal suffering, but it seems like animal sheltering is one industry where average people can have an impact because they operate from funds donated or contributed via taxes from the community and should be accountable to their community.  Now, I work hard everyday to try to advance the ideas of the No Kill Equation in my area, though it is a slow, painful process at times.  I volunteer with all the animal groups in my area, and I’m about to start a pet help line with a humane society and a no kill study group that will try to write detailed reports to show what is working in our nation and why.  Since I am a technical writer, I figure I can put my writing and reserach skills to good use to help advance this cause in my co mmunity as well as nationwide.

Barbara R. Saunders has shared her life, at various times, with dogs, cats, chickens, rabbits, guppies, goldfish, and a macaw. She has worked with animal welfare organizations in San Francisco including the San Francisco SPCA and Pets Unlimited.  Barbara is passionate about helping to save lives by bringing to animal welfare the business disciplines and technological fluency she learned in the corporate world. Barbara’s current animal companions are an “old-and-ugly”, formerly neglected dog and a cat rescued from abuse in a home affected by domestic violence. www.barbararuthsaunders.com
